At Dusk

Standard

At dusk we drive passed brown cornfields,
beneath a murderous sky
alive with dark flapping wings.

We see the crows come to roost in treetops,
cawing, swarming high above the city streets,
dressing bare limbs in new black leaves.

  1. I love the last line”dressing bare limbs in new black leaves.” Wonderful! This is such a neat piece. The dark flapping wings, the murderous sky (murder of crows) and cawing are so textural and move us along like driving. I can really see and hear what you paint with words here. Thank you for this deep snap shot!!!
